Meet our dedicated staff of directors.

Blake Tobey has been a passionate performer his entire life, participating in stage productions as well as choral and instrumental groups throughout high school and college. Tobey earned his degree in English/Language Arts from Doane University in 2009, where he was involved in numerous productions and performance groups. In addition to directing at Waverly, Tobey has run a Musical Theatre Camp for Japanese exchange students through Doane University every summer since 2012; he also guest directs for Theatre Arts For Kids of Lincoln, Nebr. When he's not directing students, Tobey seeks many opportunities to perform himself, making appearances in multiple productions at Theatre Arts For Kids as well as the Lincoln Community Playhouse. His passion for the performing arts drives him to continuously learn and grow to offer his students the best possible experience and prepare them for the next level of theatre, whether it is professional, collegiate or community. Thanks to the incredible love and support of his wife and sons, Tobey is able to pursue his passion of creating incredible art with students.

MADISEN WHITE

MUSIC DIRECTOR

Madisen (Gieler) White is a 2012 Waverly High School alumna who is no stranger to Waverly performing arts. She was an active musician within the band program, an accompanist for the vocal music department and performed in several theatrical productions and musicals. White continued to be an active performer in Doane University's band, choral and theatrical programs where she earned a music education degree in 2016; she currently teaches junior high and high school vocal music at Lincoln Christian School. Waverly Drama is proud to welcome this distinguished alum back to her home stage as Music Director.
