Waverly's Drama Department is excited to announce that we are up for another big summer trip in 2017!
In 2014, Waverly Drama took 20 students and a few parents to NYC to see Wicked and Les Miserables on Broadway, take master classes with cast members from each show and soak up the culture and atmosphere of the Big Apple. It was an incredible opportunity none will forget!
Before we formally present to the Board of Education for approval for our upcoming trip, we'd like to have some input from the interested students and families that will be eligible to attend.
BRIEF TRIP INFO @ A GLANCE:
*Date of Trip - a 5 to 7 day trip in the Summer of 2017;
*Current District 145 8th graders - 11th graders are eligible for this trip (must be an enrolled WHS student for the 2016-2017 school year);
*Destination options: Broadway in NYC or London's West End Theatre District (Europe's equivalent to Broadway);
*Multiple shows, workshops and culturally-enriching experiences throughout the tour;
*Parents are welcomed & encouraged to join us as adult sponsors.
To help us decide location, we have two meetings scheduled:
*MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15 @ 7PM | WHS - ROOM 1003
*MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22 @ 7PM | WHS - ROOM 1003
At these meetings, we will discuss the following information:
*Destination options: either NYC or London (NOTE: a final decision has not been made, and input is needed; once a destination has been chosen, Mr. Tobey will formally present to the Board of Education...THE TRIP CANNOT BE BOOKED NOR CAN FUNDRAISING START UNTIL APPROVAL IS GRANTED...)
*Itineraries, dates, safety, payment options & what's included in the price of the trip;
*Fundraising opportunities to help pay for the trip (NOTE: we won't ask students to sell anything, but rather take part in work-events like Husker Concession Stands, Stars Hockey game cleanups, special fundraising performances & more...)
*Field questions and concerns from attending students & families.
In the end, it is our goal to offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all students, and to do so, we will do everything in our power to make the trip affordable for every student interested.
If you are unable to attend either meeting, but would still like information or share your input, please contact Mr. Tobey at email@example.com.
